In this talk Carlos taught about what to expect as a web3 developer working remotely for international companies in 2022. This talk was aimed at developers who want to transition into the world of crypto and blockchain.
He walked us through the about the several pitfalls when starting a career in web 3, what does a developer need to be successful, what to do and what to avoid in such fast-moving teams.
In this edition of Talent Land Latinoamérica, Carlos walks us through the plethora of different investment options that the world of DeFi offers: Like lending, liquidity mining, staking and compounding. Also warns us about the different mechanisms that could impact the performance of our DeFi investment, like impermanent loss and protocol hacks. And finally, he compares the different options in DeFi with real TradFi investment products available at commercial banks.
Carlos gave developers a brief introduction to our current financial system and proceeded to deliver a refresher on blockchain technology concepts like hashing, blocks, transactions, proof-of-work mining, Merkle roots and nonces, followed by a tutorial on how to deploy an Ethereum node on Microsoft's Azure cloud.
On may 2019 Microsoft partners with the Mexican Association for Libre Software to organize a series of masterclasses aimed at Senior-year college students from STEM fields. The goal was to inspire students and teach about the importance of cloud infrastructure management. In this delivery, Carlos points out the differences between cloud infrastructure and blockchain networks, and points out how both can complement each other.
Carlos and Tomás Álvarez Melis (CEO of Volabit) both engage in an interesting debate about how immutability is actually achieved in blockchain networks. Álvarez Melis sustains that immutability is always directly proportional to energy output of a mining operation, while Carlos argues that at any moment the longest chain in the network can be overtaken by any another chain that is at most 6 blocks shorter.
At the Digital Vote and Referendums panel at the Digital Citizenship Forum, Carlos is invited to talk about the Electchain project. A public proof of concept he and his senior college colleagues fom IPN launched during the 2018 federal election, to show people how on-chain voting could be used to prove vote immutability.
